Have your fingertips ever felt the power of summoning a hurricane upon the helpless villagers of a small island? If not, you haven’t played Bolt Creative’s Pocket God for iPhone, which lets you act as the god of a small island, where you can summon beasts, humans, natural disasters and more. I’m a big fan of the game and was excited to learn that it is being ported to Facebook.
The game will be released this fall, and is slated to include a new control scheme that uses the mouse, and new “socially integrated features, episodic updates and a host of hilarious ways to both dispose of and resurrect the immortal pygmies of each island”. Frima (the publisher) has made clear that the experience will be unique from the iOS versions, so that iPhone players will have a reason to try it on Facebook. This kind of rules out any chance of the games being interoperable, but I wouldn’t be surprised if you can connect the games and get a few small bonuses.
“Working in the Facebook space, we simply could not have asked for a more exciting and irreverent franchise so perfectly suited for the world of social gaming,” said Steve Couture, CEO of Frima Studio. “What Bolt has created has become more than just a game or an application; Pocket God is a true pop culture phenomenon with millions of fans across the globe. Everything fans have grown to love about this game and its characters has been happily fed to the sharks and tossed into the volcano, only to be resurrected onto Facebook in a way that fans are truly going to love.”
